Chapter History

 

​Eta Kappa Tau Engineering and Technology Fraternity, Incorporated Alpha Chapter, was founded at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University by Shanae' Sharpe-James, an Electrical Engineering major. Eta Kappa Tau was established in March 2000 under the advisement of Dr. Trent Montgomery. ​​Eta Kappa Tau was created to fulfill certain obligations as the first of its kind on the campus of Alabama A&M. First, it will promote the neccessity of scholastic achievement by tutoring, hosting, attending workshops, and sharing the importance of the impact that engineering and technology has had on the world today. Second, it will provide the camaraderie and teamwork neccesary to succeed as an engineering or technology student. Eta Kappa Tau members will learn the importance of working together to achieve a common goal, the unification of the College of Engineering, Technology, and Physical Sciences. Finally, Eta Kappa Tau will establish a reputation that will work towards the improvement of social relationships between its members and others.
